Who may apply? A person wishing to study full time in the UK may apply for a student visa. The course must be full time consisting of at least 15 hours or more classroom time per week and must be run by a legitimate educational institution. The applicant will also need to show that they have the financial means to support themselves for the length of the course.

Applicants from visa national countries must apply for student visas outside the UK.

How long may I stay in the UK? Depending on the length of the course the visa may be granted for its full duration, or for part of the course. In the latter case an extension may be granted providing the applicant has attended regularly and made satisfactory progress.

Does it allow me to work? You may be eligible to undertake up to 20 hours work per week during the term and full time work during the holidays. Job Centres will be able to provide further details.
